How to download images and HTML from Google Sites for website migration
When it comes to google sites, you may need to know how to get the site downloaded in order for you to be able to use it on various platforms. Depending on your site's version, there are ways that can help with downloading all of the files and images within your website.
How to Export Classic Google Sites
If you have classic google sites, you can utilize Classic Sites Manager to download them. Visit the Classic Site Manager page and choose a site that you wish to download. Just click the "download" button on this page to export. For more information on how to use the Classic Sites Manager, see here.
Note that you cannot create new classic google sites anymore. By the end of July 2022, Classic Sites will no longer be viewable to anyone. Click here for Google's official guide.
How to Export New Google Sites
If you have a new Google site, you can use the Google Takeout tool, which allows you to download your entire Google services in one go. You can download your Google Sites by going to Google Drive and searching for your Google Sites type.
You'll notice your new Google Sites doesn't consume any space in your Google Drive, but once you export the files, you'll be surprised to learn the actual size.
Next, create a new folder, let's say 'My Google Sites' and drag your website files into it.
Then, go to Google Takeout > Select only 'Google Drive' > Select 'Advanced settings' and select 'My Google Sites' folder, and then click the next button at the bottom of the page.
You will be prompted to enter your gmail password. That’s it! That's it! You will be notified via email once the website export is completed.
Click the download button to begin downloading the compressed file. All of your Google Sites files-including HTML, images, and more-can be found in the compressed file.
